Over the past several years, I have been experimenting with many varied subject matters, some as a result of commissioned work, some as an excursion into a new realm.
Most often, I find myself drifting towards the ocean and the beach environment, for painting inspiration. I am drawn to the motion, colors, and freedom that the sea grants, and I endeavor to re-create this feeling and emotion in paint, in order to have a reminder of the action at home.
Recently I have become fascinated by all sorts of rocks, stones, and pebbles. I find each rock remarkable for the colors they contain, the fact that they are small slices of history, jumbled up and thrown together in an impromptu composition of time. Eventually, these rocks that I paint today will be ground up by the rivers and oceans that run over them to become sand on the beach, where I will paint them again! – full circle!
